End of summer and fall break has come and gone

I will add more to this post...this is just the beginning. So much stuff to share!

I have never seen anything so sweet as my son's love for this kitten. He was so rough on this kitten but the kitten didn't leave his side. The kitten also made him sit still! REALLY! He was snuggling the kitten outside our cabin and my son doesn't usually sit still for much of anything.

He wasn't so fond of the sheep!

Notice the cat near the fire. He was just having a ball "fathering" this kitten.

Meg with her horse. She liked grooming the horse. Both Olivia and Meg really took to their jobs at the ranch. Olivia would have moved in, I think. Maybe horse camp is in her future.

Will headed to preschool on the first day.

Just because

Just because I can't stand that my last post was about MY birthday...I will post these photos. They are really old as well but at least it's something.

Off to church for First Communion.

The love of my life. He's so sexy.

38

I hope that my kids are always this excited about celebrating my birthday (it will certainly make it more palatable as the numbers rise). The plans are elaborate and they could last all week. Even though it will be the day after my birthday, I am certain I will be in for breakfast in bed tomorrow which is really them eating my breakfast in my bed. It's fantastic and I wouldn't want it any other way. Now, if my brother got the job of his dreams soon, that would make for perfect birthday mojo. Today is the day, God has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. One day at a time.

Happy birthday to me!

Oh...one funny from Olivia. I told them I was the queen on my birthday and Olivia told me very sarcastic, "Aren't you the queen every day, Mom?" Like, duh?

Just another day

I had to laugh the other day when Olivia opened her backpack to show me the books she got at the library. They love going to the library at school and picking out their books. Here is what she came home with:

I hate to even think of her as a tween (I don't think she is technically a tween) but she sure acts like it. She is so grown up and likes big kid stuff. I am hopeful that we will share lots of musical memories in the years to come. She loves music much like George and I love music. If you turn on the IPod, it immediately changes our moods. Dance parties are a must around here at dinner time. The biggest challenge is deciding on what we should listen to! She is obviously the most picky. Will and Meg are happy to sing the Vacation Bible School songs (The Journey Agains, or "Turn on Gwee, mama" as Will says). My musical tastes are vast so it all works for me (except for Rush which Georges LOVES and I think is Satan music). What are you listening to right now?

Regardless of what is on the radio, I love that my daughter still proudly comes home with a book about Jesus and a book about Carrie Underwood. Maybe our first concert together will be Carrie Underwood. She's pretty clean, right?

Happy Birthday to Meg!

Whew. I was worried I wouldn't remember how to log into this Blogger. Thankfully my computer remembered for me.

Today Meg turns six years old. She is expecting her teacher to forget if she is really quiet and doesn't make a sound about it. She is expecting her teacher to ask her if her mom and dad gave her cake for breakfast. She is expecting to finish her birthday crown and wear it. She is hoping for some paper thingy with holes in it and strawberries and some other dohickie that I couldn't quite gather. She wants me to bring her a birthday lunch to school. In her mind, the best lunch includes honey mustard - not my homemade kind either.

Meg was our "easiest" baby. She didn't want to be bothered with us half the time and LOVED being in her bed. She loves her baby brother and usually acts just like Ruby in Max and Ruby. She's forever telling him what to do and how to do it. Usually, he likes to play along. She loves her older sister even though they don't usually see eye to eye. And boy can she talk. This weekend she made her grandfather crack up when she told him he had given her a wedgie. It's nonstop from telling me that her stuffed animal is a "superstar and a member of the Ear Society" to deep thoughts and questions all about heaven and what happens there. Her artwork is prolific and she channels Tom Cat in "Tom and Jerry."

We hope she has a happy day and gets all the birthday treats she is hoping for...that swim team coach better bring those chocolate chip cookies she mentioned. Meg hasn't stopped talking about it!

Happy 6th birthday, girl! I love you and am so happy to be your mom.
