The Office

This is so overdue. It must, however, be short. I promised myself I would be in bed by 10pm tonight since I can't seem to kick this nasty cold that I have. Gotta get some sleep.

1. Gina and Max are engaged. Be sure to catch it on You Tube (adamsnashvegas) or on my Facebook page. It was amazing and I am so thankful to have been there to witness it first hand.

2. Who feels as depressed as I do that these idiots are our only choices for President. If any of us ran our households the way these idiots run our country, we'd be in prison and/or bankrupt. Oh, excuse me, that's where the country is headed.

3. We spent a fabulous week in AZ and CA. Dave and Katie are married and it was one of the best wedding receptions I have been to in ages. Scott and Andrea Slezak are up there in terms of fun receptions but this was so fun, too. What a great time. The cute little couple even called from Spain on their honeymoon. I love them. Disneyland was wonderful but too hot and too crowded. I can say that Meg shook her booty at several princesses up close and personal. Not kidding. Olivia and I enjoyed a "private" party with Miley Cyrus for her Sweet 16. I still love her music although it really pissed me off how half-naked she was. I hope Olivia didn't notice.

4. Meg had to go to "The Office" on Wednesday at her preschool. She was stomping her foot at her teacher and wouldn't follow directions. The director (who we know well) said she almost couldn't help but laugh at her when she came to the office because she kept talking and talking and shook her booty at her. I think she is like Will. She knows what people like to hear. Needless to say, she is on major sass watch right now. That child better get good reports tomorrow or she will never see Tom and Jerry or Toy Story AGAIN!

5. Crap. It's 9:57pm. Gotta go.

JoBro

It's been a while since I last posted. To be honest, most days just fly by. It's a crazy sort of life but time doesn't fly by unnoticed. I enjoy the silly things that go on all day. Most days I can't walk across the floor of any room in my house without having to watch where I step. The road hazards can be laundry, toys, a nine month old, puke, and the list goes on and on. As long as I see the floor once a week, I am ok. I know it certainly won't be this way for long since it wasn't even a year ago when I had some sort of routine and order. Will wasn't born yet. Meg was in school two days a week and I had some time to gather my thoughts (and my piles). I do remember how that felt and I know it will be back again in a year or two??!! So...this is why I haven't posted lately. That and a trip to Asheville (YEE HA!). If you ever go, I HIGHLY recommend our friends at the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn. http://www.crookedoakmountaininn.com/

We woke up this morning and George went to turn on the computer. We wanted to check our Netflix queue. There was a scary error message that said something about a corrupt registry and that was as far as it would go. I called our trusty Mousecalls guys and "Buster" came over by 10:30am! Yeah for Buster. He's was messing around with the cables and Meg is talking his ear off. She's telling him she's going to be a flower girl and that she has to go and try on her flower girl dress today. Then she takes two steps over to the small table in our office. She grabs this poster that belongs to Olivia. I don't know where she got it. I think it's from Lauren. On one side is a photo of Miley Cyrus (or Hannah Montana) and on the other is a photo of the Jonas Brothers (and maybe the other folks from Camp Rock - which Olivia has not been allowed to watch and she keeps reminding me that she is the only child on Earth who hasn't seen Camp Rock). Meg places the poster on the rolling chair and points to one of the Jonas Brothers (it might have been Joe Jonas). Buster is half-way in our computer armoire trying to disconnect the gazillion cables and she says, pointing to the JoBro guy, " You look like him." This is making me almost pee my pants because here is Buster. He's been in our house maybe 10 minutes and she has been sizing him up. The poster was not really in view but she remembered that he looked like one of those guys. It was so funny. I think Buster found it quite amusing. We had a good giggle and discussed how he might have "JoBro body double" back up career if computer repair doesn't work out for him. I liked him. I'll really like him if he can save my PC.

Today was Johnny Appleseed day at school. The Kindergarteners were supposed to bring a pot to school to wear on their heads. I thought this was precious. I think Olivia thought this was ridiculous. She got in the car today after school and told me she didn't wear it except in the office. Now if they had invited all the Kindergarteners to watch Camp Rock with a pot on their head she would have been all for it. Conferences are in two weeks and I can't wait. I am dying to hear about my kiddo. She's a real hoot. She reads now. I don't mean, See spot run. I mean really reads. She has it pretty much all figured out and even long, complicated words are ok for her most of the time. It's pretty mind blowing to see your child change so rapidly. Someone flipped the switch. She really reads to Meg now. Before she would tell her the story based on the photos which is also reading but now she reads the words.

Meg wanted me to read her a book today but I was changing Will and we were trying to get out the door to run errands. She plopped herself in the rocking chair and proceeded to read the book aloud to herself (correctly, I might add). She has some kind of photographic memory I know many of you have heard me say this. She can recite things after just one or two hearings. It's kind of freaky. Anyway, she finishes "reading" A Pocket for Corduroy and matter of factly drops the book and says, "I can go to Kindergarten now because I am a reader." I am not ready for her to go to Kindergarten. I can hardly handle one being in Kindergarten.
